The Val Müstair lies on the southern side of the Alps and enjoys plenty of snow and blue skies all winter.
The village of Tschierv and the surrounding area offer a multitude of winter activities. With a variety of different level runs the charming and family friendly ski area of Minschuns (2700 m altitude) caters both to beginners, who may want to take advantage of the local ski school, as well as to proficient skiers. It is also possible to reach the restaurant on foot so even non-skiers can enjoy the sunny terrace with its wonderful panorama.
The valley is home to cross-country ski champion Dario Cologna and boasts 40 km of cross-country pistes throughout the valley as well as in Minschuns and on the Pass dal Fuorn. The closest access is just outside the house!
The local natural ice-skating rink attracts both young and old throughout the day and is floodlit at night (December – February). The toboggan run from Lü to Tschierv is a great success; it is also floodlit at night.
For those who want to get off the beaten track to enjoy the silence of nature whilst not disturbing the wildlife, the valley offers a wide selection of ski tours as well as some snowshoe trails. All the requisite equipment can be rented in the village sports shop.
